THE ANIMAL-FREE TRACK

A  unique track, focused on using innovative technology for removing animals from the food and industrial value chain including cosmetics, pharma, etc. by the introduction of new materials, processes, or other types of technological innovation.

The focus of the track covers a wide range of technologies including, but not limited to:

• Food-Tech

  • ​Alternative proteins

  • Functional protein

  • Enabling technologies

  • Bio-alternatives solutions 

  • Etc.

• Other Industries

  • Bio-Materials

  • Preclinical Testing

  • Vaccine Development (ex: Squalene)

  • Biological drugs

  • Disease models using genetically modified animals

  • Replacing Animal serums and growth factors ex: Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS)

  • Replacing Animal-based materials: Collagen, Heparin, Insulin, etc,

  • Proteomics: Functional proteins for health, nutrition, cosmetics and wellness use

  • Testing methods of ingredients, penetration, toxicity, efficacy during the development process and finished products

  • Etc

Scope, Eligibility, and Criteria

• The track is open to any early-stage ventures established and operating in Israel.

• At least two founders in the team

• Founders are NOT LIMITED to be students or graduates of Tel Aviv University

• Must be "for profit" entities

• The venture has raised LESS than $200,000 in non-founder equity

• The venture has a working Prototype / MVP / Alpha / Advanced Demo 

• The finalists must be able to attend the final pitching event.

 

IMPORTANT

The competition scope DOES NOT cover ventures which aid or facilitate the production of animals. This includes, but is not limited to:

• Novel crops/proteins for animal feed

• Probiotic treatments to replace antibiotics for farm animals

• Tracking and monitoring systems for farm animals
